The Only Cure for Fallen Humanity
Two men went for a boat ride. The boat had two life jackets, but one of the men felt he did not need the jacket. He could swim, and the boat had never capsized before. The river was swift from spring rains. Hitting a hidden rock, the boat overturned, throwing both men into the river. The man wearing the life
jacket quickly rose to the surface and was rescued. But his friend lost his life.
Our world is like a fast-moving, dangerous stream. Christ’s death for our sins is our life jacket, yet many do not feel the need to be prepared for eternity. We do not know if the surviving man felt any guilt for not insisting that his friend use his life jacket, but he well could have. Do we feel any concern or responsibility for those we know who are going through life without Jesus as their Savior?
Repenting and becoming a Christian takes less time than it does to put on a life jacket. But the consequences are far greater. It is truly tragic for one to lose his or her life for not taking time to put on the jacket. But it is many times more tragic for one not to accept God’s offer of free salvation. An eternity without Christ makes the loss of a few years on earth of little importance. After all, every person is appointed to face physical death at some time. Dying without accepting Christ as Savior is a choice that lasts for eternity.
I need you to reflect on the story you just read. Think about what it means to you. Will you wear your life jacket? Please share this story with your friends and ask them if they are willing to put on their life jackets so that they can be saved.
Please respond to the text message from me with “I’m Wearing my Life Jacket” or “I Want to Wear my Life Jacket”. God bless you. Stay safe.
